Christchurch and Arthur's Pass : The REAL honeymoon. We took a Trek Travel cycling trip across New Zealand riding from Arthur's Pass to Wanaka. After New Zealand we spent five days recovering on the South Pacific paradise of Rarotonga in the Cook Islands. The trip was incredible! We took tons of pictures so please enjoy some of the ones we liked the most. These are pictures from our first three days.

Franz Josef : After a shuttle from Arthur's Pass, we rode 138 km from Hokitika to Franz Josef. The town of Franz Josef is centered around exploring Franz Josef glacier. The glacier decends from the mountains into a rainforest and ends just short of the Tasman Sea. The ride to Franz Josef was great and our heli-hike on the glacier was a highlight of our trip.

Lake Moeraki : From Franz Josef we rode along the coast to our next stop at the Wilderness Lodge Lake Moeraki. At Lake Moeraki we did some kayaking, hiking, cycling (of course), and celebrated Michelle's birthday. A highlight of Lake Moeraki was watching the giant, tame (sort of), freshwater eels which would come out to be fed each morning. The riding along the coast from Lake Moeraki to Haast on our second afternoon was one of our favorite rides.

Wanaka and Queenstown : From Lake Moeraki we set off for Wanaka on our longest ride of the trip. We traveled 111 miles from the Tasman Coast, across the Southern Alps over Haast Pass, and finally along beautiful Lake Hawea. I don't think you could come up with a more scenic ride. In Wanaka we had great food, great hosts at our lodge, and some extra activities including fishing on Lake Wanaka and skydiving.

Rarotonga - Cook Islands : After our cycling trip we flew to Rarotonga in the Cook Islands to rest our legs on the beach. Rarotonga is one of those places you didn't think actually existed. The island was stunningly beautiful, clean, safe, and friendly. We rented a villa on the south shore of the island and would literally see 10 people walk by on on the beach each day. Our spot was like something out of a travel magazine. We've never seen such beautiful sunsets. Each one was different and the colors changed by the minute. The pictures don't even begin to do the island justice!
